VETO PRO PAC TOOL BAGS PRODUCT CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Keep the Zippers Clean & Lubricated

Over time, dirt and grit will “clog” the zipper coils preventing them from staying closed. To keep this from happening, clean and lubricate your zippers twice a year (more often if you work on a job site with a high amount of airborne debris). To clean the coils: Scrub them with soapy water; a tooth brush works very well. After scrubbing the coils, blow them out with an air hose to dislodge any other fine grit that didn’t dislodge with the brush. To lubricate the coils: Apply a silicone spray, beeswax or a zipper lubricant.

Protect the Zippers From Sharp Objects and/or Excessive Heat

Any sharp object or heat source is capable of permanently damaging the zippers. Once a zipper coil is cut or singed the zipper will not function and in most cases is not repairable. Most of the cut zipper coils we see are the result of sharp tools stored inside the bag with the sharp side facing up. Make sure to keep the sharp edges of your tools facing down in your bag and away from the zipper coils.

Don’t Overstuff the Bag

Overstuffing your tool bag will very likely cause significant stress on the zippers that is above and beyond what the bag was built for and will eventually cause the zipper(s) to separate. If you have to work hard to close your zipper(s), your tool bag is most likely overstuffed… proceed with caution!

I use this bag as a Controls Engineer. Meaning that I mostly carry a laptop, minimal tools, and a ton of extras. Those extras include various connector for different controllers, mouse, USB flash drives, a battery pack, infrared thermometer, etc. Basically I carry a lot of individual items that take up room. I came from a Tech Pac bag that I had more tools in, but that bag didn’t really work for me as I don’t need to carry a lot of tools with me anymore.

I didn’t give this bag a 5 star review because I could use a bit more room. The laptop sleeve could be improved. The sleeve is a bit tight for my company laptop. It isn’t a thin laptop and getting it into the bag can be a bit of a chore. The same with getting it out. It sometimes takes both hands to remove the laptop. If the laptop sleeve could be made bigger or remove the center divider it would be better. Even if the center divider was velcro’ed in that would work. For me I only use one part of the laptop sleeve as I would never be issued a tablet in my job.

The main pocket works for me mostly. I wish there was more organization but I don’t think that would work for what I have in there. I would like to see the bag be slightly bigger and with 2 main pockets. Maybe that would allow more organization. But overall the bag works for me in my use case. I like the size and hard bottom. I would like to see a different safety glasses case. The one that is provided for safety glasses won’t hold my glasses and I used an exterior pouch attached to one of the D rings. It works but I wouldn’t mind a tape measure holder like on the Tech Pac that I could strap the exterior case to.

I purchased this bag at the beginning of May of this year. It replaced a bag that was supposed to last longer than it did. I own three Veto tool bags and when the daily backpack became available I snapped one up in olive. My wife and I traveled to Ireland for a couple of weeks at the end of May so this backpack has already seen some hearty road use. It was shoved under some incredibly small spaces beneath the seats of the Iceland Air planes, tossed around in some small taxis, and hauled in and out of a different BNB or hotel every night during our stay. I have used it since as my daily work backpack and it’s already obvious this thing is going to hold up far better than my last backpack. It’s also far more comfortable. The shoulder straps are actually pleasant to wear. I strolled about many a town and my shoulders never got sore. Which is something that surprised me as I’d simply become accustomed to the discomfort with my old pack. The zippers are Veto strong as are the pockets. Of which there are plenty. The side pockets hold my 16oz coffee tumbler and water bottle easily. There’s a small zippered space on the top of the bag that I use to easily access my sunglasses, sanitizer, and lip balm. My 13′ MacBook Pro that I store in a hard case easily fits in the laptop compartment as does my iPad in the adjoining sleeve. I LOVE the hard square bottom of the backpack which prevents it from tipping over- a habit my last bag had that drove me nuts.
I needed a tough bag that should hold up, have pockets that make sense and are are easy to get to, and look somewhat stylish as I’m in my client’s homes. Veto nailed it.
