I’m the Best Gift-Giver in My Family. Here’s What to Get Travelers

By: Lashanah Tillar November 30, 2025 0 Comment.

It’s that time of year when you wring your hands and stress endlessly about what to get people. It doesn’t matter if they’re your close loved ones or distant cousins or coworkers you only sorta like; either way, they’ve gone on your gift list. Worse, some of them have listed “travel” as their major interest. What exactly do you get someone who is always on the go? Especially when those people already have everything, and some pack light? A cursory Google search of “gifts for travelers” brings up novelty mugs and t-shirts, which, while cute, or barely useful. Most people aren’t taking mugs with them, and clothing is always tricky if you don’t know someone’s preferred style.

When it comes to travelers, always opt for the practical, useful, and entertaining. Hours in the airport can be long and gruelling. Boredom may set in on the plane. Convenience is the name of the game, but sometimes, people aren’t aware of the small things that will keep them organized and stop them from digging around their suitcase. One of the best gifts I’ve ever received was a set of packing cubes!

I’ve put together this guide so you can wow the travelers in your lives.

⭐ Small and Practical ⭐

These are easy wins, cheap to grab, and still helpful.

Travel-Sized Self-Care Items

Mini moisturizers, lip balm, sanitizer, and face wipes all go a long way. Put together a small “travel comfort kit” and you’ve got a thoughtful, personalized gift. Extra tip: Try to find out their preferred beauty products and see if you can find minis for them!

Packing Cubes

Let’s start with the star of the show. These keep clothing contained and speed up unpacking in hotels and airport security. They’re lightweight, affordable, and life-changing for anyone who hates digging through a chaotic bag.

You can give these to anyone who travels, and they’ll actually use them. They keep clothing neat, make airport hotel stops faster, and avoid that frantic dive into a chaotic bag. Bonus: they’re light, affordable, and surprisingly satisfying to organize.

Tech Organizer Pouch

If you’ve ever watched a grown adult unravel a charger cord like it’s an ancient curse, you know a tech organizer is a tiny gift that solves a massive problem.

My pick: The Norwalk Tech Case is designed specifically for travelers who want their gadgets accessible, organized, and not floating around like loose debris in the bottom of a backpack. I’m pretty minimalist, but this just does such a good job of holding everything I need.

Reusable Water Bottle

A collapsible or lightweight bottle saves money and reduces waste. It also helps with hydration during long travel days.

Earplugs and Eye Mask Set

Simple but appreciated. Good rest on planes and trains is worth more than most gadgets.

Laundry Bag

Important for keeping your stinky clothes from smelling up your entire suitcase.

⭐ Comfort ⭐

Travelling isn’t always super comfortable. A lot of time is spent travelling between the airport, on planes, trains, and taxis, or waiting in line for an over-priced bagel. These things help.

Compression Socks

They may not look glamorous in a gift bag, but frequent flyers swear by them. They reduce swelling and keep legs feeling normal after long flights.

Noise-Reducing Earbuds

They don’t have to be premium. Even decent mid-range earbuds soften the hum of engines and chatter. I’ve used both the Moondrop Space Travel and the Soundcore P30i by Ankerand they’re both good quality and wallet-friendly. The Moondrop Space Travel also has a kawaii anime girl voice for the commands!

Travel Blanket or Soft Shawl

Warm, compact, and multifunctional. Airport AC is no joke.

Upgraded Neck Pillow

A soft, supportive travel pillow makes red-eye flights and long drives bearable. I grabbed one from the Target Bullseye section for $5, and my neck has been thanking me ever since.

Lightweight Packable Jacket

Perfect for temperature swings between airports, hotels, and destinations.

⭐ Entertainment ⭐

Travel involves a lot of waiting — boarding, delayed flights, long rides — and boredom creeps up fast. These gifts keep travelers sane.

E-Reader or Digital Book Credit

Everyone is saying 2026 is the year we’re getting off our phones. There’s nothing worse than traveling and spending the entire time buried in your phone. If you’re looking for something that keeps them entertained while also taking up very little space, look no further than an e-reader. Kindles are classic and affordable, though I have personally been enjoying my Boox Go Color 7 as an Android-based device. If you’re not sure they’re a big reader or they already have an e-reader, you can get them a credit or gift card for the book provider of their choice.

Travel Journal or Sketchbook

Something else to help them get off their phones. For journaling, I prefer the MD Notebooks from the Japanese stationery brand, Midori. I love the simplicity of the design and the fact that the notebook lies flat when open. It also holds ink well with minimal bleed.

Handheld Gaming Device

If you know your giftee is fond of gaming, get a handheld gaming device so they can take the fun with them for those long connections! If you really love them, splurge on a Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck. If they’re a fan of retro games, consider something like the ANBERNIC RG 34XXSP.

Streaming Service Gift Card

Travelers will love having shows and movies for long flights, especially if they’re a budget traveler on an airline like Spirit or Frontier… My personal faves are Apple TV for sci-fi shows, Crunchyroll for anime, and Netflix for K-dramas. Note for Apple that you will need to buy them an Apple Gift Card.

⭐ Luggage ⭐

If you really want to spoil someone — or they’re traveling more than ever — luggage upgrades are a winning choice.

Travel Backpack

A good backpack is the heart of a well-planned trip. Durable fabric, good structure, and thoughtful pockets matter.
A standout option is the NORWALK 20L Backpack, which works equally well for everyday carry or short trips.

Weekender or Duffel Bag

Ideal for people who pack more or take multi-day trips. The NORWALK+ 40L Duffel is rugged, structured, and not overly large.

Carry-On Suitcase

Hard-shell or soft-sided, depending on the traveler. Look for smooth wheels, good zippers, and a layout that isn’t full of gimmicks.

All right, there you have it! Go forth and wow!
