"I purchased an OT-XL back around 2011. I’m a sprinklerfitter and had used other brands, but they never seemed to last. I was wary about spending so much on a work bag, but I was also tired of replacing them every few months. I used your bag daily until I moved into the office about 2 years ago. New construction, T/I, day work, underground repairs, this bag saw it all and took a beating. I handed the bag down to our best apprentice (now our newest foreman) and he still uses it every day.” -Jay R. (Plumber/Sprinklerfitter)

Additional Information

Veto Pro Pac Tool Bags Product Care and Maintenance

Keep the Zippers Clean & Lubricated

Over time, dirt and grit will “clog” the zipper coils preventing them from staying closed. To keep this from happening, clean and lubricate your zippers twice a year (more often if you work on a job site with a high amount of airborne debris). To clean the coils: Scrub them with soapy water; a tooth brush works very well. After scrubbing the coils, blow them out with an air hose to dislodge any other fine grit that didn’t dislodge with the brush. To lubricate the coils: Apply a silicone spray, beeswax or a zipper lubricant.

Protect the Zippers From Sharp Objects and/or Excessive Heat

Any sharp object or heat source is capable of permanently damaging the zippers. Once a zipper coil is cut or singed the zipper will not function and in most cases is not repairable. Most of the cut zipper coils we see are the result of sharp tools stored inside the bag with the sharp side facing up. Make sure to keep the sharp edges of your tools facing down in your bag and away from the zipper coils.

Don’t Overstuff the Bag

Overstuffing your tool bag will very likely cause significant stress on the zippers that is above and beyond what the bag was built for and will eventually cause the zipper(s) to separate. If you have to work hard to close your zipper(s), your tool bag is most likely overstuffed… proceed with caution!

I have never spent this much on a bag and was half expecting to regret it. I am happy to say that I am SO GLAD I invested in this. I am a homeowner and landlord who needs to organize basic hand tools for whatever I may be walking into, and this bag is a huge improvement over hard boxes and soft zipper bags. I have my tape measure, stud finder, screwdrivers, pry bar, 20v DeWalt impact driver and multiple bit sets and extensions, utility knives, safety glasses, speed square, torpedo level, pencils pens and markers, electric multimeter, channel locks and vice grips, Allen and torx sets, and so much more. I even have painters tape, duct tape, and electrical tape on the loop on the end (not sure if that’s what it’s for, but it works great.) This thing is amazingly well built. The only thing I can’t seem to make good use of is are the flat zippered pockets- seems like they could hold a few pieces of paper at most.

Great bag, everything at your fingertips. Don’t get me wrong my other Veto bags are awesome, but this was the one I needed. I do still keep my Tech pac on my truck to handle the overflow. Veto is truly the gold standard of tool bags.

My previous tool bag strap broke and a friend of mine who repairs commercial food equipment suggested I look into a Veto bag. I have a lot of mechanic type tools so rachets, extensions, socket sets, breaker bars, chisels, hammers, impact tools, pliers, screwdrivers, etc. It all ends up being quite cumbersome and heavy but after getting an OT-XL I don’t have to go digging to get what I need, nor do I need to worry about my bag ripping to pieces. The bag is built strong with tough wearing materials. Great handle and strap. I like the hard bottom. Plenty of pockets for medium to larger tools. If they made an insert to organize really small stuff, I’d get it. All around, well worth the money. I also got a TP-6B as part of a deal and that thing is perfect for small jobs where I don’t need to haul every tool I own. I am a customer for life, without a doubt.

I picked up this bag to replace my riggers bag (25 Yrs old) that I have used as a cabinet maker. Over all I am satisfied with this tool bag. Very well put together, very good materials. I am still trying to come to terms with some short comings and missing features that a woodworkers bag should have. I guess you cant have it all .
    Things I like:
tape measure clip, the best made.
    handle, super good
organization of tools , very good
    quality of materials ,great
    Things i don’t like:
missing a dedicated speed square slot
missing a dedicated combination square sleeve
missing a way to carry a 12” back saw or 26” hand saw, maybe a sleeve on one side
    need more small tool storage

What a great, professional looking bag.
Although it was over £200, it is worth every penny. So we’ll made, and easy to find what you want when you need it. An absolute quality and durability, built to last, unlike other bags I’ve had before.

I was using a bucket for ages till I bought this bag. What a difference, absolute quality, easy organisation of my tools, with loads of space. The bag was £200+ to buy, but worth every penny. Great quality, durability and easy to find what I want when I need it. It also looks so professional, and the envy of other trades on site.

I haven’t had this bag for too long and have yet to put it through some solid use in the field, but my first impressions are that it is extremely well built just like the rest of my Veto products.

I am very happy with the purchase and am quite surprised at how many tools I can actually fit in it. Everything from screwdrivers, nut drivers, pliers, wire strippers, a hammer, hacksaw, and a whole lot more. Thank you for making such great products Veto! I will be buying more bags in the future.

Love mine, but wish Veto would treat the O.T. bags with the same respect the TechPac’s keep getting. Need Hi-Viz Versions of the O.T. line, Blackout versions with the Hi-Viz striping on the bags for the Blackout line….. Introduce a Blue Hi-Viz version for the water workers out there also. Could have 3 or 4 color versions of Hi-Viz on these bags! Why I say that is I wear a blue Hi Viz coat in the winter so yes Blue Hi-Viz does exist!

Great bag for all tools. Easy to see what you want. Quality is outstanding.
Thought a bit expensive to start with but having used it for a while I can see it was worth every penny. Will outlast every other bag I’ve had.

If you’re on the fence, just buy it. I bought my first OT-XL about 10 years ago after going through other tool bags about every (3) months. I work as a sprinkler fitter and this bag was great at organizing tools and had stood up to my trade this whole time. I’ve since passed it on to an apprentice and bought my second. These things are bullet proof.

I have used this bag and a number of other Veto bags and they have all been of exceptional quality. This one in particular allows you to see your tools and access them conveniently. The bag is really worth the dollars.

I’ve had my OT-XL for about 6 years now. This bag is worth every penny. My bag carries all of my essential tools that I need on a daily basis. The bottom zip pouches have started to rip a little, but the rest of the bag is in great shape.

Only had this bag for a month
Only had this bag for a month but so far I’m loving it! Over here in England I used a Stanley FatMax box for years buy they kept getting damaged and it was also too difficult locate tools without moving others. This OT-XL let’s me store all my electrical tools in areas where I can easily just reach in and pick one item at a time up. Even though it’s built in China it has an amazing quality feel to the build of this bag. The only down side I’ve seen so far is the price! But you’ll soon understand once you have one. This is a top quality tool bag for top quality tradesmen. As a side note I did have to UNFOLLOW Veto Pro Pac on social media sites due to them advertising these bags with guns in and a quote saying “always room for 1 more tool” straight away I thought “Guns destroy things and tools fix things” happy building guys you won’t be sorry.

Have owned this bag 4+ years. Absolutely the best made tool bag I’ve owned in 20+ years and the only bag that has lasted over 2 years, let alone, almost 5. Highly recommend for serious pros

I bought this bag at my local supply house. I was skeptical at first, due to the price. But, as I was thinking more and more about how many bags I go through in a years time. I spent at least half the cost of this bag in a year. So, I bit the bullet and bought one. And I must say, I am very impressed with the ruggedness and quality that this bag has. And, it holds all of my tools. Great job constructing this bag for the everyday technician and field workers! Love it!

I’ve run my company out of a Veto Pro Pac OT-XL for four years now. I’ve replaced almost every tool EXCEPT the bag. This thing just keeps going. Name the job and I’ve used my OT-XL to get it done. The only thing I wish it had were slightly more room in the zipper pouches for UNIbits and such. After 4 years, I’ve managed to only break one zipper pull and trust me when I say that I have not been easy on it.

Many thanks to a company with it’s customer needs in mind!

One tough bag period! Small enough to be portable, but big enough to hold all of the tools you need. I’m very glad I bought this bag.

    Having owned the Veto-Pac OT
Having owned the Veto-Pac OT-XL for several years, I am a great fan. My bag was recently stolen and I immediately purchased another OT-XL. You can’t beat the vertical storage and organization. Veto even improved on the pockets by adding expansion gussets increasing the storage capacity even more. I put my last bag through extreme, heavy use and it never wore down. Save your money on those cheap bog box bags and invest in an OT-Xl

    I purchased the OT-XL after
I purchased the OT-XL after looking around for a while at various tool bags that were available at a variety of retail stores. The problem that I was finding with my current bags and all the bags that I looked at in stores were that the pockets were not designed well for holding a variety of tools. They were often to shallow or loose and would not store tools well for ease of selection. The OT-XL addressed this well, I find that I can store a wide range of tools from screw drivers, pliers, shifters to files and chisels without having to have a big pile at the bottom of the bag to sort through to find things. I find that it also allows me to carry a small drill and charger as well as gloves and various things all without compromising the access to my tools. The only criticism that I have of this bag is that the few zip pockets that is has are quiet tight and there aren’t very many of them. I have found that I have a few items that I cant really fit anywhere that came out of big zip pockets on previous bags.
All in all a great bag and I guess you get what you pay for.

I had my eye on this bag for over a year. When my local plumbing supply store had it on the shelf one day I picked it up. I do residential service plumbing and this is my main tool bag for my most common hand tools. A very heavy, but extremely well built bag. The fact that it is so heavy (10lbs empty) encourages me to keep it clean and organized. The shoulder strap is also very comfortable and bears the weight well. I’m very pleased. By far the most expensive tool bag on the market but you get what you pay for in quality. Thank you!

This bag is very well built. I have to carry a lot of tools and this bag has the room, and toughness needed. I have used many other brands of tool bags and boxes, and none compare. This is my second bag and now I use both.
The other bag was given to me from another tradesman and I have had it 3yrs. Best bag in the industry!!

I went to this bag because the bag I have needed to be replaced often. My old bag always got holes worn in to bottom. I lost tools and always had issues with number of pockets and pocket size. I really like my new bag allot. Everything is organized and in view. Very happy customer.

I’ve bought a lot of tool
I’ve bought a lot of tool bags over the years looking for the perfect bag, the OT-XL is pretty close. I carry a lot of hand tools in my job- wrenches, testers, etc. I install packaging machinery. The OT-XL is big enough that I don’t have to make trips back to the truck for additional tools. In conjunction with the TB3 I have most of my based covered. The carry handle is comfortable and makes carrying a heavy bag easy. The construction is first rate and the little attentions to details such as Velcro to secure the shoulder strap so it’s out of the way when not used is great. The only change I would make is put a little slack in the inner side pockets, they are too tight and you can’t load a tool in unless it’s a flat scrapper or file.

Keep up the innovations and yhe good work.

This is my third Veto bag.
This is my third Veto bag. Bought the first XL bag as soon as I saw it. Wore out the handle and the zippers and bought a second one. Wore out the handle and the zippers and thought, “You know? you’re getting old. How about something smaller? (and lighter). Tried 4 different bags from other manufacturers and finally came back and bought this OT-XL. Down-sizing ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. I like this bag and expect it to perform like its two older siblings, but I miss the accessibility of the original XL. With the staggered rows in the larger bag, finding things is a wee bit quicker. And it carries more. And it’s heavier. I recommend either of these bags, but suggest careful consideration of the shape of the bags for best fit for your work and the number of tools you find necessary to carry in your “must-have-always” kit.

  28. Bruce

Have owned and used the bag
Have owned and used the bag for over a year. Having been in and out from behind the back seat of the truck hundreds of times in the past year the bag looks as good today as it did in it’s first week of use.

Because of the organizational capacity of the bag I have realized time savings on jobs – more than I anticipated.

I’m a master plumber with 20+ years experience and would highly recommend this bag to any plumber.

  29. Tim

    Strongly constructed bag.
Strongly constructed bag. This tool bag is sturdy and well made, however, I noticed a few things I disliked from the beginning. The outer bit holder pockets are so tight one can hardly pull a driver/bit out without needle nose pliers yet they are not deep enough to hold a bit/driver/pencil/marker, etc, etc. of any length without it snagging and falling out when shouldering the bad around the job site. The zipperred pockets have a similarly limited capacity as well. Any one who has a lot of drill bits and small items will certainly need a parts bag as these zipper pockets are essentially useless for frequently needed items. If the interior were a hi-viz color in the bottom of the bag and in any compartments it would be easier to find tools. Despite the price and the loose threads I’ve on the bag, overall all it’s pretty good. The shoulder strap is the best I’ve seen on any tool bag and the overall functionality of the bag is good too.
